The Hereford Inlet Lighthouse in North Wildwood celebrates its 150th birthday with a public event sponsored by the City of North Wildwood. Festivities begin at noon with a flag-raising ceremony, a historical presentation about the lighthouse, and speeches from both public and private sector representatives. The event features entertainment including a magician, a balloon twister from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., and live music by “The Sea Dogs”. Guests can enjoy birthday cake, hot dogs, and additional activities such as a presentation on Augustin Fresnel, the inventor of the Fresnel lens, and tours of the Lantern Room, subject to U.S. Coast Guard availability.
